‘I’m an NQT so I’m lucky to have found Future Education. It’s a family-owned company and several of that family are highly-experienced primary-school teachers who still regularly go into classrooms. So they have been able to give me all of the mentoring support I need in the crucial probationary year, which I suspect rival agencies would promise but cannot deliver. These are people who really know what goes on in schools! But I’ve looked around and Future Education also pay NQTs a very good rate. And, perhaps most importantly, they have also done their best to keep me on longer-term assignments in good schools where I can find my feet as a teacher. They understand that I, my family and the state have invested a great deal in my training, and they don’t want my initial experiences in classrooms to be so tiresome that I’ll throw in the towel. Sadly that happens with a lot of NQTs, but it won’t with me!’
Mr Irina Maris, Newly Qualified Teacher
‘What appeals to me, as a returning teacher working for Future Education, is that it’s a lifestyle choice which they truly understand because they must also balance their commitments to children, to teaching, to husbands and wives. They live like this too, spinning several plates (there are often babies in the office!) and it’s a great balance! Supply teachers like me prove that it’s entirely possible to commit to my children at home and those I see in the classroom. I’d argue that all of those children benefit from my being a mum and a teacher too. And, of course, the significant earnings I take home mean that I make a very tangible contribution to our family’s lifestyle.’
Mrs Liz Jackson, Experienced Class Teacher/Senior Manager
‘I’m a South African OQT who originally came to Britain on a holiday. Yet, once here, I met and married a rather wonderful Englishman. This wasn’t part of the plan at all! But being a modern girl I’ve not wanted to abandon my career, and we’re finding that two wages mean that we can live very well as a couple. What I’ve really loved about working for Future Education is that they have allowed me to be flexible. I’ve worked all over, which has made life quite exciting, and yet on supply I’ve still picked and chosen the work I did. This has allowed me to be a good wife and find a little time for myself, as foreigner who still finds herself mesmerised by the attractions of London. And, to cap it all, Future Education has found me a great permanent post!’
Mrs Wendy Saunders - Overseas Qualified Teacher
‘Our school has been using teachers from Future Education for several years now. It’s abundantly clear that they screen teachers properly, which is critical for us because we operate in a climate where we have to be risk-averse. But, setting aside all of those legally-required checks, Future Education unerringly send us teachers who can actually teach! They’re not child-minders and they don’t need to be spoon-fed. They’re confident and experienced teachers who react well to being parachuted into an unfamiliar environment where they have to be good on their feet! Yes, we’re happy to recommend them!’
Mrs Anne Pendry, Headteacher, St, Mary’s Roman Catholic Junior School, Croydon
‘There is nothing so reassuring as to have Future Education answer my frantic plea for a teacher first thing in the morning when I know we’re in trouble without them. And what I really like about them is that, if all else fails, one of the family will come and teach that day themselves. Future Education is totally focused on providing the best possible teachers, teachers who are committed professionals. They take the time to find out about our school’s needs and certainly deliver. Need I say more?
Mrs Karen Bigg, Headteacher, Highfield Junior School, Bromley
‘There are lots of teacher supply agencies. Hundreds! I should know from the many emails and telephone calls that I get every week. Choosing an agency with whom to work would be a total lottery if it wasn’t for people like Future Education. What makes them different? Well the company is family-owned and run by a highly experienced headteacher who is also a juvenile court magistrate. His two sons, who assist in the business, are also teachers and continue to teach in mainstream schools each week. This gives me confidence that Future Education has a ‘hands-on’ approach to the issues affecting schools. They also have a lot to lose if they get it wrong. We can be sure that their focus is on providing high-quality screened and experienced teachers - and ensuring integrity comes before income.’
