SEN Learning Support Assistant

If you are an experienced SEN Learning Support Assistant looking for a new role in a vibrant SEN environment, then this could be the perfect role for you!

I am currently recruiting for a large SEN College in New Malden that caters to students aged 16-19 with a variety of special needs including ASD, complex needs and speech and language difficulties. The School are looking for an experienced Learning Support Assistant to start as soon as possible. This is a full-time role and will be with a view to going permanent after 12 weeks.

You will be working in a lively, fun SEN College where the staff take in to account the students' needs and preferences to teach them in their own preferred learning style. The School also offer exciting vocational programmes from animal care and catering to digital media to name a few. The School were given an 'Outstanding' rating by Ofsted in their most recent inspection.

The ideal applicant for this position must:

• Have experience/knowledge of supporting children with SEN
• Have an in date DBS (If you do not have one it can be run through Future Education)
• Have a passion for SEN
• Be able to commit to the Schools' hours (8.45am-4.30pm)
• Reliable (This is extremely important as the students will need consistency)
• The ability to build rapport with children and young people

Roles and Responsibilities:

• Supporting students on a 1:1 basis, or in small groups
• Promoting independence
• Running activities with the students
• Inspiring students to reach their potential
• Work closely with class teachers and make sure students understand lesson objectives
