Sixth Form College in located in the Greenwich borough is currently recruiting an LSA (Learning Support Assistant). This is a 5-day-a-week fixed term contract to start immediately until July 2022.
This college has a separate SEN Provision with great resources, facilities and inclusive education. Due to the varied needs of their students, they are looking for an adaptable LSA who is empathetic, resilient, dedicated, pro-active & able to build a strong rapport with children. This role is also open to either an SEN Teaching Assistant (SEN TA)/ Youth Worker/ HLTA/Child Support Worker/ Child Residential Worker/ Behaviour Mentor/ Learning Mentor/ Mentor. This role entails 1:1 and small group support, ensuring that children can access their education, assisting the teacher, reviewing data / reports for the young person(s), being able to communicate well both speaking and writing. Children who attend the college may have been diagnosed with various needs; ie MLD/ CAMHS / SEMH/ ASD / ASC/ODD/ Behaviour/ ADHD/ Physical Disabilities (wheelchair) / Learning Difficulties and or Complex Needs.
**The successful LSA**
- Experience working as either a LSA/ SEN Teaching Assistant/ Youth Worker/ Child Support Worker / HLTA/ Child Residential Worker/ Behaviour Mentor/ Mentor/ Learning Mentor
- Your SEN Experience; MLD/ CAMHS / SEMH/ ASD / ASC/ODD/ Behaviour/ ADHD/ Physical Disabilities (wheelchair) / Learning Difficulties and or Complex Needs.
- Experience working with young people in either; 6th Form or Post-16 College/ Pupil Referral Unit (PRU)/ Alternative Provision/ SEN School Youth Centre or Mainstream School
- 1:1 and Small Group Support experience with children/ young people
- Your personal profile: Adaptable/ Resilient/ Pro-Active/ Patient / Empathetic/ Great Sense of Humour/ Can build a Strong Rapport with children
- If required, able to de-escalate behaviour
