Innovative & Creative Alternative Provision located in Bexley is recruiting for a pastoral, Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL). Full time permanent vacancy to start in September 2021.
Alternative Provision catering to children, some of which are looked after children, who have been diagnosed with SEMH and ASD on Education Health Care Plans (EHCPs). Children who attend are aged between 11 - 17 years with up to 40 children and young people on role. The Head is a true visionary of where this provision is going. Opportunity has arisen for a full-time pastoral, Designated Safeguarding Lead to start in September 2021. At this provision there are a high level of safeguarding cases. In this Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) appointment, you will be in charge of ensuring & leading legal procedures, in addition the procedures in safeguarding via the Local Authority are effectively executed. Your SEN and safeguarding experience will ideally within a pastoral capacity. You have either been a Designated Safeguarding Lead OR Assistant Headteacher (AHT) / Deputy Head Teacher (DHT), Assistant Principle (AP)/ Vice Principle (VP). You MUST have a minimum of 2 years experience as a Designated Safeguard Lead & you will have the DSL Qualification.
You have strong expertise and understanding of the safeguarding of children and young people in education. In this senior post, you will take the lead role of coordinating & supporting the provision of pupils on a child protection plan, the promotion of child welfare, ensuring the best interests of the child and especially vulnerable students at risk of harm. You will have a wealth, expertise & knowledge with Safeguarding children which can be proven from your current or previous employer. You would have obtained this experience in either a Pupil Referral Unit (PRU) / Alternative Provision / SEN School and/or Mainstream School.
