Inner-City Secondary School located in the borough of Newham is recruiting an Inclusion Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) & Specialised Assessor. This is a permanent term time only post to start in January 2022.

New and exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) who also has experience as a specialist Assessor to join in January 2022. It is important that your recent job has been as either an experienced HLTA or Behaviour Mentor / Senior Inclusion Teaching Assistant / Senior SEN TA/ Senior Learning Support Assistant / LSA. It would be beneficial if you have the HLTA qualification and also as an Assessor. You must have experience and able to successfully identify the best teaching approaches in this senior HLTA post. You must be confident in teaching at KS3 - KS4 as a minimum. You will have great experience working closely with the SENDCO, Teachers and managing Teaching Assistants and leading inclusion. Additionally, you will have great SEN experience; ASD/ADHD/ CAMHS/ ODD/ Dyslexia/ Dyspraxia/ Complex Needs/ SEMH etc.

With regards to the Assessor aspect of this post, you must either have the relevant qualification or willing to undergo training to obtain it. IF you do not have the Qualification, you must at least be a very experienced HLTA (3 years minimum). You will be conducting standard assessments, exams, carrying out diagnostic and screening assessments, participating and providing team training etc.

  • Your most recent SEN job; HLTA OR experienced Inclusion TA/ SEN TA/ Behaviour Mentor /Learning Mentor / Learning Support Assistant (LSA) or Teaching Assistant (TA)
  • You must have experience working in a support role with children between KS3 & KS4 (preferably up to KS5)
  • Your relevant SEN Experience; ie ADD/ ODD/ CAMHS/ SEMH / Autism/ PDA/ Behavioural Difficulties/ Complex Needs / Dyslexia / Dyspraxia etc
  • Preferably worked as a specialist Assessor (however you can be trained for this)
  • Must have experience teaching children (mainstream &/or SEN)
  • Must have worked in either a mainstream Secondary School/ Primary School/ Pupil Referral Unit (PRU)/ SEN School or Alternative Provision
  • Experience with SEN Pupils on EHCPs.
  • MUST be able to commute easily to the Newham borough
