Alternative Provision situated in the Greenwich borough, is recruiting for either a LSA or Behaviour Mentor (SEMH & ASD). This post is to start after the Easter break and you must be available in school hours, 5 days a week for an ongoing long term post.

Some of the pupils who attend this provision have been diagnosed with behaviour difficulties; SEMH / ADHD/ Anxiety. Other children have been diagnosed with ASD. This is very much a supportive provision with great behavioural support staff, SEN Teachers and SLT (Senior Leadership Team). The successful LSA / Behaviour Mentor/ SEN TA/ Child Support Worker etc must be pro-active, resilient, focused on safeguarding children & empathetic. It is vital that you have SEN experience working with young people with behavioural needs; ie Anxiety/ SEMH/ CAMHS/ ODD/ADD/ADHD/ ASD). In this role you will be working with a child/children on either a 1:1 basis and/or in small groups. You are effective at building a strong rapport with young people, able to engage them well, able to de-escalate behaviour if required. Pupils in attendance are at KS2, KS3, KS4 & KS5 levels.

  • Minimum 6 months experience as either; LSA/ Behaviour Mentor/ SEN TA / Youth Worker / HLTA/ Child Support Worker / Youth Worker
  • Your SEN experience; ADHD/ SEMH/ODD/ADD/Challenging Behaviour/ Anxiety/ ASD/CAMHS) at either primary or secondary level
  • Preferable if you have experience of children on Education Health Care Plans (EHCPs)
  • Working with children; 1:1 support and/or small groups
  • Must have worked in either a Pupil Referral Unit (PRU)/ Alternative Provision (AP)/ Youth Centre /Child Residential Home/ Mainstream School or SEN School
  • Can successfully de-escalate behaviour (f required)
  • You must live in close commutable distance to Greenwich
  • You have an Enhanced DBS (with the update service) OR able to put a new one in process ASAP
