Thriving PRU situated in the Greenwich area is recruiting a fixed term contract for a HLTA (Higher Level Teaching Assistant) with a sport or PE background who is available to start in September 2022. This could later on become permanent for the right person!

As this is a senior support post, you would be expected to teach and some PE /sport lessons on a 1:1 basis and in small groups. Its important you have experience of doing so in a n education setting; ie Mainstream School /Alternative Provision / PRU/ SEN School (Behaviour) etc. You would be also able to offer a range of sports; ie Basketball/ football/ athletics/ boxing / handball/ cricket etc

Due to expansion, this PE / Sport HLTA (Higher Level Teaching Assistant) opportunity has arisen. You will be a resilient, empathetic, dedicated, pro-active and focused HLTA / experienced SEN TA / Behaviour TA / Mentor who is looking for a full-time post with behavioural pupils. You will come from a PRU/ Alternative provision / SEN School / Mainstream School with experience with SEMH/ ASD / ADHD/ CAMHS/ Complex Needs. You will be able to build a strong rapport with children and young people and excellent at de-escalating challenging behaviour. Additionally because you will be expect to teach small classes and on a 1:1 basis you must have experience of this and be confident doing so.

  • YOU: either be a HLTA (Higher Level Teaching Assistant) OR Experienced SEN TA (SEN Teaching Assistant) who can offer Sport/ PE
  • EXPERIENCE: Children with either SEMH/ ASD / ADHD/ CAMHS/ Complex Needs or Behaviour Challenges
  • EXPERIENCE: teaching and planning activities/ lessons on a 1:1 and in small groups
  • MANAGED: support staff, ie SEN TAs/ TAs, Behaviour Staff etc
  • PASSIONATE about working with Children with behavioural SEN and wanting to get the best out of them
  • YOU: are resilient, pro-active, dedicated and knowledgeable with SEN
