Innovative, Creative and inclusive Pupil Referral Unit in Tower Hamlets is currently recruiting for a Behaviour Sport/ PE SEN Teaching Assistant. This is a 5 day a week post to start straight away!

Thriving Pupil Referral Unit (PRU) that offers inclusive education to children with Behaviour challenges/ Complex Needs /SEMH / ADHD/ ASD. The majority of children do have EHCPs and beneficial for new staff to have a good understanding & knowledge of them. Supportive and welcoming SEN Teachers, Behaviour Support Staff and SLT. New staff must have worked with children in a support role; ie Youth Worker/ SEN Teaching Assistant/ PE TA / Sport TA/ Behaviour Mentor / Child Residential Worker etc

Due to increased student role, this exciting new post has arisen and hence recruiting for an flexible and adaptable PE TA /Sport Teaching Assistant SEN Teaching Assistant/ Behaviour Mentor/ PE HLTA/ Youth Worker/ Sports instructor/ Sports SEN TA. You can build a strong & professional bond with children on both a 1:1 basis and small groups. Typically, class sizes are between 4 - 7 per class. Your great experience working with SEN children; ie SEMH/ CAMHS/ ADHD/ ASC/ ASD/ Behaviour / Complex Needs/ MLD will be required in this successful PRU. It is important you have experience within various PE related sport; ie hand-ball/ cricket/athletics/football/basketball/ tennis etc). As an SEN TA (PE or Sport)/ Teaching Assistant/ Sports SEN TA/ Learning Mentor / Behaviour Mentor, you must be able to engage in PE lessons with secondary aged children (KS3 & KS4). Your PE/sport background must be either in an Alternative Provision/ ASD Unit/ Pupil Referral Unit / Youth Centre /SEN School or Mainstream School

  • Recent experience as either a PE Teaching Assistant / Sport Teaching Assistant/ Youth Worker/ Behaviour Mentor/ Learning Mentor/ PE HLTA/ Sports instructor/ Sports SEN TA / Mentor etc
  • Your SEN Experience; Behaviour Difficulties/ ASD/ ASC/ Complex Needs/ ADD/ CAMHS/ SEMH/ADHD
  • You have worked in a support role in either an; Alternative Provision/ PRU/ Mainstream / Youth Centre/ School or SEN School
  • 1:1 basis & small group support of children
  • Able to successfully de-escalate behaviour if required
  • Can build a strong rapport with children, great positive attitude, resilient, pro-active
  • Enhanced DBS on the update service OR in the position to pay for a new DBS immediately
