PE Teacher (Alternative Provision)

Alternative Provision (AP) in the borough of Greenwich is recruiting for a well qualified, contract NQT or Experienced PE Teacher/ Teacher of PE. This role is to start in January 2022.

Creative & State-Of-The-Art provision located in the Greenwich borough, which caters to children diagnosed with SEMH and Behavioural difficulties who have EHCPs. This provision has exemplary teaching practitioners, Senior Leader Team & behavioural support staff. The SEN Teachers at this Alternative Provision have been graded a minimum of "Good" in lesson observations. Teachers are well-qualified with a teaching certificate (ie PGCE / Teach First /SCITT/ CertEd/ GTP / QTS/QTLS). They also offer an extensive NQT Program and CPD.

This is a 5-day-a-week January 2022 long term contract which would suit either a NQT or Experienced Teacher of PE/ PE Teacher (MPS or UPS). You will have worked in either a; Pupil Referral Unit (PRU)/ Alternative Provision / Mainstream Secondary School / SEN School as a Teacher of PE/ PE Teacher. You will have great experience teaching a number of sports (ie Basketball/Football/ Athletics/ Handball/ Cricket etc) with children at KS3 up to GCSE/ BTEC. As a qualified NQT or experienced Teacher of PE, you must be able to plan and deliver a good to outstanding lesson, ensuring it is fun and engaging. You are a resilient teacher and able to successfully de-escalate behavioural difficulties as they arise. You will have a strong background teaching SEN pupils (ie SEMH/ CAMHS / ASC/ ADHD/ Challenging Behaviour/ ODD/ ADD/Complex Needs/ EHCPs etc). It's really important that you are able to build a strong rapport with children and able to engage them well.

  • You must have a Teaching Certificate/Qualification; ie PGCE / ITT/GTP/ Teach First /SCITT / QTS/ QTLS)
  • NQTs or Experienced PE Teachers (MPS or UPS) are welcome to apply!
  • Your SEN Experience; Complex Needs/ADHD/ASD/ ASC/CAMHS/ADD/SEMH/ODD / Behaviour/ EHCPs)
  • As a qualified teacher, you must have worked in either a Pupil Referral Unit (PRU)/ Alternative provision (AP)/ Secondary School/ SEN School
  • Have taught a number of different sport; Basketball/Football/ Athletics/ Handball/ Cricket etc at KS3 & KS4/ BTEC
  • Can demonstrate a minimum of a "Good" lesson
  • Experience teaching from KS3 - GCSE/ BTEC PE
  • Available to start a new post in January 2022
