SEN School located in the Lewisham borough is recruiting for PART TIME Primary Teacher or SEN Teacher (ASD). Maternity Cover contract to start in September 2022 (possibly July 2022 hand over)

Thriving, state of the art SEN school that cates to children with learning and behaviour difficulties. Children who attend are from Primary to Secondary ages. Children have Learning Disabilities and Behavioural Difficulties and most of which are on EHCPs. This school has an outstanding Senior Leadership Team, with a Headteacher who has clear goals and aspirations. All staff play a key role in this school and are incredibly supportive and welcoming. All Teaching Staff have been observed a minimum of a "Good" in lesson observations. Their SEN & Primary Teachers are well qualified; ie PGCE/ Teach First / SCITT/Cert Ed/ QTS / QTLS Certificates). Sizes of classes are small, typically between 5-7 children per class.

Due to a maternity cover, this role has been made available for a well qualified Primary Teacher or SEN Teacher who will be responsible to teach KS1 pupils and will be supported by at least 2 LSAs. This post is to start in September 2022, however you maybe required for a handover in July 2022! There will be a lot of support from the Learning Practitioner & Senior Leadership, so this positions is open to either an ECT as well as an experienced teacher. This is a 3 day a week position and experience with PECs and /or Makaton is a bonus! You must have worked in either a mainstream Primary School / SEN School or a provision that caters to ASD children.

The successful Primary Teacher or SEN Teacher

  • Well qualified SEN / Primary Teacher; (ie Bachelor of Education/ PGCE/ SCITT/ Cert Ed / Teach First/ GTP/ QTS and or QTLS
  • ECTs & Experienced Primary Teachers / SEN Teachers are welcome to apply
  • Must have taught KS1 pupils
  • Experience with Makaton and/ or PECs would be beneficial but not imperative
  • Your SEN Experience; ASC/ ASD/ Complex Needs/ Learning Difficulties
  • Must have taught in either a Mainstream Primary School / ASD Provision / DSP or SEN School
  • Able to demonstrate a "Good" Lesson
  • Can build a strong rapport with children, Empathetic, Dedicated to making a positive change to children
  • In commutable distance to the borough of Lewisham
  • You either have an in-date Enhanced DBS on the update service OR willing to pay for a new one immediately
