PT Primary Teacher (Alternative Provision)

Alternative Provision in Bexley would like to recruit a part time MPS or UPS Primary Teacher (KS1 or KS2) who has some experience with behavioural pupils. This is a long term contract to start in September 2022!

Larger than average Alternative Provision that gives Inclusive education to children with difficulties in behaviour, most of whom have been diagnosed with Social Emotional Mental Health (SEMH). All children who attend this provision have Educational Health Care Plans (EHCPs). This is a well run provision, with a Head teacher who has a wealth of SEN experience and has clear vision. Senior Leadership, Middle Leaders, SEN Teacher and Behavioural Support Staff have outstanding knowledge, welcoming and all work well for the betterment of the children. Teaching Staff have been observed "Good" within their lesson observations. All teaching staff are well qualified; (ie Teach First / PGCE / SCITT/ BEd with QTS / Cert Ed/ QTS / QTLS Certificates). Sizes of classes are small, with a maximum of 8 children per class.

This Part Time Primary Teacher position has arisen due to departmental changes & is to start in September 2022. You would be job sharing with another Primary Teacher and flexible if your preference is KS1 or KS2 as they would be able to accommodate this. Additionally in your class you will have a minimum of 2 SEN Teaching Assistants (SEN TA). You must have worked in either a mainstream Primary School / Pupil Referral Unit/ Alternative Provision or an SEN School (SEMH) to be considered. You will have excellent communication skills and excellent level of English. You will be able to plan, deliver and mark your pupils work and essentially make their learning informative and fun. You will be able to engage children with behavioural difficulties well on both a 1:1 basis and in small groups, resilient, some experience with intervention classes would also be helpful. You will have a lot of support from Senior Leadership and Middle Managers.

The successful Primary Teacher

  • Must have a UK recognised teaching qualification to teach Primary pupils (ie BEd with QTS / PGCE/ ITT/ Teach First/ SCITT/ Cert Ed / GTP/ QTS and or QTLS)
  • MPS or UPS Primary Teachers welcome to apply
  • Experience teaching either KS1 or KS2 children
  • Your have great SEN Experience; SEMH/ Behavioural Difficulties / ASC/ ASD/ Complex Needs/ ODD/ADD/ Learning Difficulties
  • Excellent Communication Skills & excellent level of English
  • Your Primary Teaching has been taught in either a Primary Mainstream School / PRU/ Alternative Provision / DSP or SEN School (SEMH)
  • Can successfully demonstrate a "Good" Lesson as a minimum
  • Able to build a strong rapport with children & if required can de-escalate behaviour effectively and calmly
  • Must be in easy commutable distance to Bexley
