Pupil Referral Unit (PRU) located in the Lewisham is currently recruiting for either a MPS or UPS Science Teacher /Teacher of Science / SEN Teacher. Permanent & Full-Time teaching appointment to commence in September 2022.
This is a thriving, larger than average PRU with SEN Teachers and Behaviour support staff who are, supportive, consistent, welcoming and dedicated in all aspects of this PRU. Children who attend have been diagnosed with SEMH & Behavioural difficulties, all of which are on EHCPs (Education Health Care Plans). Ages range from 11 - 16 years old, class sizes are typically between 5 - 8 per class. Each class has at least 3 behavioural support staff and possibly more, depending on the individual needs of the child.
New and exciting position has arisen for a permanent well-qualified (ie GTP/ Cert Ed/ PGCE/ Teach First/ SCITT/ QTS etc) MPS or UPS Science Teacher /Teacher of Science / SEN Teacher. This would be suitable for either an ECT or experienced Teacher of Science. This successful teacher must have a strong STEM background and able to teach KS3 to GCSE Science. Additionally, you must have taught in either an Alternative Provision/ ASD Unit/ DSP Unit/ SEN School (behaviour) OR Mainstream School. Your class sizes are very small which helps you to build a strong rapport with your students, able to differentiate and teach on either a 1:1 basis and in small groups. You have strong SEN experience (ie SEMH/ ASD/ ASC/ CAMHS/ODD/ADHD/ Behaviour) and would be beneficial if you have experience of EHCPs. You must be able to plan, teach and deliver a minimum of a "Good" lesson, are creative and can engage children.
