SEN School (SEMH) located in the Greenwich Borough is currently recruiting for either an LSA (Learning Support Assistant) or a Behaviour Mentor. You would either be available to start working ASAP, 5 days a week OR available to start in September 2022.
The children who attend this school have been diagnosed with behaviour challenges and some of which who have been diagnosed with varied SEN (ie ADHD / SEMH/ ADD/ ODD/ ASD/ ASC/ Behaviour Challenges). They are between Primary and Secondary ages and on two different sites. Very supportive school with great support staff, SEN Teachers and Senior Leadership. This is a great opportunity for a Resilient, Pro-active, Empathetic & Dedicated LSA/ Behaviour Mentor/ SEN TA / Learning Mentor OR Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA). Due to the needs of the children, it is imperative that you have experience with behavioural SEN; ADHD/ ADD/ ODD/CAMHS/ SEMH/ ASC/ ASD etc). This is a 5 day a week position, working with young people on a 1:1 basis and in small groups. You will be de-escalating behaviour if required, building a strong rapport, bridging the gap between student and teacher, helping the young person with their work, safeguarding the young person etc.
- Minimum of 6 months as either an LSA/ Behaviour Mentor/ Learning Mentor / Youth Worker / HLTA/ Child Residential Worker/ Child Support Worker etc
- Experience working with children with behavioural SEN; ADHD/ ADD/ ODD/CAMHS/ SEMH/ ASC/ ASD etc (either Primary or Secondary children)
- 1:1 & small group support experience
- Experience working in either a Youth Centre / Alternative Provision/ Pupil Referral Unit/ You Mainstream Primary or Secondary School / Child Residential Home
- Able to successfully de-escalate behaviour
- You live in easy commutable distance to the Greenwich borough
- You either have an in date |Enhanced DBS on the update service OR you are in the position to pay for a new one immediately
