Creative, Innovative and inclusive PRU (Pupil Referral Unit) in the borough of Greenwich is recruiting for an immediate PE / Sport SEN Teaching Assistant.

This is a thriving PRU (Pupil Referral Unit) that offers education to children with Complex Needs /SEMH and Behaviour challenges. All children are on EHCPs and beneficial for new staff to have a good understanding of EHCPs. Exemplary and supportive SEN Teachers, Behaviour Support Staff and Senior Leadership. New staff must have a good understanding of children and young people with SEMH/ CAMHS/ Complex Needs /ADHD with an excellent track record of coaching or supporting classes with Sport / PE in some capacity. Your PE/sport background will be either in a Youth Centre/ Alternative Unit/ Pupil Referral Unit / SEN School or Mainstream School

Exciting new post has arisen due to increased pupil numbers and hence recruiting for an SEN Teaching Assistant/ PE /Sport Teaching Assistant/Behaviour Mentor/ Youth Worker/ PE HLTA/ Sports instructor/ Sports SEN TA/ PE SEN TA. You must be able to build a strong & professional bond with young people on both a 1:1 basis and in small groups. You have great experience working with SEN children (SEMH/ CAMHS/ ADHD/ ASD/ Behaviour Difficulties/ Complex Needs/ MLD) in various PE related activities (ie hand-ball/ cricket/athletics/football/basketball/ tennis etc). As an SEN TA (PE or Sport)/ Teaching Assistant/ Sports SEN TA/ Learning Mentor / Behaviour Mentor, you must be able to engage in PE lessons with secondary aged children (KS3 & KS4).

  • You have recent experience working as either a Youth Worker/ Behaviour Mentor/ PR HLTA/ Sport SEN TA/ PE Teaching Assistant /Sports instructor/ Sports SEN TA / Mentor etc
  • Your SEN Experience; ADD/CAMHS/ Autism/ADHD /SEMH/ Complex Needs / MLD/ Challenging Behaviour
  • You must have worked in either a Youth Worker/ Pupil Referral Unit/ Alternative Provision/ Mainstream School or SEN School
  • Experience working with children on a 1:1 basis and within small groups
  • You can successfully de-escalate challenging behaviour, build a strong rapport with children, resilient with a great positive attitude and personality
  • You have an Enhanced DBS with the update service OR able to pay for a new DBS ASAP
  • Must live close to the borough of Greenwich
