Pupil Referral Unit in Hackney is currently recruiting a resilient and dynamic Youth Worker or Behaviour Mentor to start a full- time post after the Easter half term.
Pupils who attend this PRU will have been diagnosed with either SEMH/Behavioural Difficulties and/or ASD. The ages of the children range between 7 - 17 years old. The Head is supportive and is a true visionary for where this PRU is going. Outstanding Senior Leadership Team, SEN Teacher and Behavioural staff. Pupils know what is to be expected of them and with the right support they flourish and do well in their lessons. Class sizes at this PRU is small and typically between 5 - 6 children per class..
The successful Behaviour Mentor/ Youth Worker/ Mentor /Learning Mentor/ SEN Teaching Assistant / HLTA or LSA must be able to demonstrate on their CV that they have worked with young people & children with SEN; ie CAMHS/ SEMH/ ODD/ ADHD/ ASD/ ADD / MLD and/ or Behaviour Difficulties. As a Youth Worker / Behaviour Mentor you will be working with a child on a 1:1 basis and children in small groups. You will be assisting them with their work, ensuring that they are applying themselves, de-escalating behaviour, building a rapport with them and being a positive role model to them. You must have worked in either a Pupil Referral Unit (PRU) / Youth Centre / Alternative Provision/ SEN School / Mainstream School or Post-16 College.
