Art Teacher

We are working with an Outstanding special school located in the London Borough of Sutton and they are looking for an Art Teacher for the rest of academic year.

This school provides specialist teaching and therapy for up to 60 pupils aged 11 to 19 whose primary need is speech, language and communication. Some pupils have additional learning or sensory integration needs and a large percentage of pupils have a diagnosis of Autistic Spectrum Disorder.

The School provides a warm, safe, friendly and nurturing environment, which helps pupils to learn, express their ideas, communicate, develop friendships and grow in confidence and self- esteem.

Staff provide pupils with an outstanding education based on strong practitioner research and the holistic curriculum offer that promotes strong personal and social education as well cognitive development. It is a rewarding and inspirational place to work.

This role is Monday to Thursday

Pay £140 to £170 per day

To be considered a real asset for this position, you must demonstrate:

• Outstanding practice within the teacher standards and have a strong understanding/knowledge and experience of working with children with special needs, particularly those with Autistic Spectrum Conditions.
• A desire to think outside of usual educational pedagogy to find workable solutions for children that have strong cognitive potential but require a highly personalised approach to their education.
• High emotional intelligence with the ability to lead a team of classroom assistants in teaching a curriculum based around student's motivations and interests whilst supporting children's emotional regulation through positive behavioural approaches.
