Job Title: Nursery Manager

Responsible to: Board of Director/Trustees

Working Hours: 40 hrs/ week, Monday to Friday

About The Nursery

We are a community-run Nursery with charitable status for babies and children aged from 3 months to 5 years old. We are a large and vibrant setting, providing fantastic early education and childcare to around 110 children.

We believe that every child is unique and deserves a good start in life. Our children are nurtured and cared for by experienced staff in a specially designed space to maximise their potential.

We welcome children and families from all backgrounds into our nursery, and are proud to be run by and for the community. This means we have a genuinely diverse group of staff and children, and work to be inclusive and open throughout the nursery.

Role Description

We are seeking a passionate and experienced nursery leader to head up our team. You will be responsible for leading and managing nursery provision on a day-to-day basis, with the support of another nursery manager, and a deputy manager.

Your role will include supporting and motivating a team to maintain high quality practice, while also ensuring the safety and well-being of children, and providing our parents with an excellent service.

This role would suit a motivated individual who enjoys fostering relationships and working as part of a team, but also embraces responsibility for their work as an individual.

The successful candidate will exhibit the ability to be proactive, solution-oriented and well-organised. A good attention to detail and the ability to multitask are essential.

A positive, motivating presence in the Nursery with a can-do attitude are essential for this role.

Main duties

  • To lead and manage high quality practice in the nursery and deliver the highest standards of care, safeguarding and education, meeting the requirements of the Early Years Foundation Stage
  • To be the Registered Manager of the setting
  • To provide an inclusive working environment within which workers, volunteers and children can thrive
  • To provide staff with effective management, including regular supervision, training and performance review, to ensure the delivery of high-quality childcare practice.
  • To provide parents of children attending the nursery with an excellent service, including high quality support and communication
  • To ensure Sunrise Community Nurseries (and its activities) and the Board of Trustees is compliant with all legal requirements
  • To be the nominated person regarding Ofsted communications & inspection
  • To prepare updates for the Trustee board and attend monthly meetings.

Required qualifications and competencies

You will hold relevant qualifications in Childcare/Early Years at Level 3 or above

  • Passionate about early years education and childcare
  • Excellent communication and computer skills
  • Ability to organise own work effectively and that of others, identify priorities and meet outcomes
  • Lead by example; demonstrating high levels of drive, enthusiasm and passion with proven ability to motivate others
