Science Technician Full time, Long Term, Lewisham Secondary School

£75-85 per day

Future Education are working with a great school in the Lewisham area and are seeking a Science Technician to start Full Time on a Long-Term basis.

Working under the direction of the Head of Science, this role entails preparing practical sessions and supporting the Science department to deliver the highest quality lessons for our students. This post would suit someone with a love and knowledge of scientific discovery as well as a desire to work with young people.

The role includes:

  • Prepare materials, resources, and equipment that are needed for lessons
  • To assist with practical work in the classroom as needed or to be present when practical work is being done to provide support as needed
  • Maintaining, repairing, and taking inventory of apparatus
  • Assist with keeping the prep rooms and teaching areas clean, safe, and free of clutter and hazards
  • To undertake basic maintenance and cleaning of equipment and to organise its construction, cleaning, servicing, and repair as required
  • Ordering of stock and new equipment
  • Ensure Implementation of health and safety regulations across the subject area
  • To dispose of used chemicals/hazardous waste in a safe manner as well as ensuring that hygiene and health and safety standards are maintained in the laboratory and preparation areas

The Successful applicant should have:

  • Up to date training in Safeguarding
  • Clear and current enhanced DBS
  • Experience of working as a technician in a school or educational establishment
