SEN School in the borough of Newham is recruiting for an Assistant Head (Science). This is a permanent appointment to commence in April 2020.

The Provision caters to behavioural pupils with complex needs/ ADHD/ SEMH/ Challenging Behaviour. The School teaches at KS3 & KS4 levels. The Headteacher has a wealth of experience within education and in SEN Schools. This SEN school has been graded “Outstanding” in all areas. New position has arisen for an Assistant Head who is also a qualified Science Teacher / Teacher of Science (ie Cert Ed/ Teach First / SCITT / PGCE/ ITT/ GTP / QTS). This is a fantastic opportunity to join an outstanding SEN School with excellent leadership and support. This is a permanent April 2020 appointment for a well qualified Science Teacher who has progressed in their career to an Assistant Head / Deputy Head/ Assistant Principle/ Vice Principle. It is essential that you have taught Science a KS3 and KS4 levels with exceptional knowledge of your subject in either a Pupil Referral Unit / SEN School / Alternative provision / mainstream School or Mainstream, School in an SLT post with behaviour. This is a full-time position.

  • You have a UK recognised teaching qualification (GTP/ PGCE/ SCITT / Cert Ed/ QTS) well-qualified Assistant Head (Science) / Deputy Head/ Assistant Principle / Vice Principle
  • Preferable if you have an SLT qualification
  • Your SEN experience must be with either ; ADHD/ ASD/ SEMH/ Behavioural Difficulties/ MLD.
  • You have been graded a minimum of a “Good”
  • You must have worked in an SLT post as this role is NOT suitable to Middle Managers
  • Minimum of a year as an Assistant Head
  • Must be available for an April 2020 appointment
