Successful SEN School (SEMH) that is situated in Haringey would like to appoint an experienced, talented, and dedicated Deputy Head (SEN). Immediate start, but for the right DHT they can wait until January 2021 start.

Warm and inviting SEN School that caters to children and young people with mild SEMH such as anxiety. As they are not able to integrate confidently in mainstream education, this school creates a innovative learning environment. This is a small SEN School with currently 15 pupils on roll with the capacity for 30 children. Pupils who attend do not have behavioural difficulties and respond well to engaging, empathy, consistency in staff. Staff create a calm and safe educational setting to ensure pupils can be the best versions of themselves. Senior Leadership are exemplary and clear visionaries for the success of this school.

Due to expansion, they would like to appoint a well-qualified teacher (PGCE/GTP/Cert Ed/ SCITT/ QTS) who has worked up to Senior Leadership as a Deputy Head / Vice Principle / Assistant Head / Assistant Principle with a SEN background. Imperative that you have worked or currently working in either an SEN School/ Alternative Provision / Pupil Referral Unit or mainstream school (if you have a lot of experience with SEMH / ASD/ ADHD pupils). Additionally, the successful Deputy Head / Vice Principle / Assistant Head / Assistant Principle must have experience with SEN pupils who have been on EHCPs, as the children who attend this school are all on EHCPs. Additionally, it is imperative that you have sound knowledge of the curriculum in teaching and Learning and able to Deputise for the Head in their absence.

To be successful in this DHT appointment:

  • Must be a well-qualified Teacher (PGCE/GTP/Cert Ed/ SCITT/ QTS)
  • Your SLT experience must be in either a Pupil Referral Unit/ Alternative Provision/ SEN School (SEMH) or mainstream school (if you have SEN experience)
  • Rated a minimum of a “Good” SLT Practitioner
  • Excellent understanding of SEN and EHCPs (in an SLT capacity)
  • Sound and excellent knowledge of the UK Curriculum in T&L
  • MUST live in easy commutable distance to Haringey (or unfortunately your application will be rejected)
  • You will be available for either a January 2021 or Immediate start
