Independent SEN School (PRU) located on the borough of Lewisham is recruiting for a Learning Mentor.  Long term & full time post to start in September 2019

 

Medium sized and dynamic Independent SEN School (PRU) that predominantly caters to SEMH pupils and students essentially with challenging behaviour. Strong SLT that are additionally outstanding practitioners in their field.   They have a strong CPD & NQT programs.  Teaching & support staff at this Independent SEN School (PRU) is a minimum of a Good. Staff work hard at this Independent SEN School (PRU)  to ensure their students have a passion for education & life for the future.   They offer education to both primary and secondary levels.

 

Due to expansion of the student role, new opportunity for a temp to perm Learning Mentor / Senior Behaviour TA / Behaviour HLTA / Teaching Assistant who essentially has experience with pupils with SEN and challenging behaviour.  This role is looking for a Learning Mentor / Senior Behaviour Teaching Assistant / Behaviour HLTA / Teaching Assistant who has experience working with KS3 & KS4 students.  This role & opportunity would suit someone who  is resilient, not the type to take things ‘to heart’, can build a strong rapport, calm and committed to safeguarding young people and children.  You have worked in either an SEN or mainstream school or a PRU & have would be worked with students on a 1:1 basis and at times within small groups.

 

  • Can build a strong rapport with challenging behaviour
  • Experience with students with challenging behaviour (ie EBD/ ADHD / ASD. SEMH) etc
  • Beneficial if you are Team Teach or PRICE trained ( however training would be provided if not)
  • Worked as either a HLTA/ TA/ Learning Mentor/  Behaviour Mentor / Senior Behaviour Teaching Assistant / Behaviour HLTA / Teaching Assistant/ HLTA
  • Worked with pupils on a 1:1 basis and within small groups and would  potentially need to teach small groups
  • Confident to be left alone to deal with a disruptive pupil & retrain if necessary
  • Focused on safeguarding pupils
  • Resilient, consistent & don’t take things to heart
