SEN School in the borough of Haringey is recruiting for a temp contact to perm (for the right candidate) Deputy Head.  This is a full time January 2020 appointment.

This SEN School is in the heart of the community. Pupils who attend are between the ages of 11 – 19. They cater to students with a range of SEN needs such as ASD/MLD/SLD/ PMLD and challenging behaviour.  70% of their students have ASD and there is a small unit within the school from 16 – 19 years old of 15 students.   The Headteacher is an inspiring practitioner who has excellent vision for this Haringey SEN School.   As a true visionary, he comes with years’ experience working within an SEN setting. Senior Leadership at this SEN School are good to outstanding practitioners and have great experienced combined. This is an excellent employer to work for and essentially they look after their staff.

Exciting opportunity has arisen for a temp contact to perm (for the right candidate) Deputy Head to commence work in January 2020 (possibly earlier).  In the first instance this role would be to cover a Maternity Cover and then in September 2020 there is a permanent appointment. The Headteacher is ideally looking for a Deputy Head / Deputy Headteacher / Vice Principle has experience preferably in an SEN School, however they would still consider SLT members in a mainstream school. This role would also suit an experienced Assistant Head/ Assistant Headteacher/ Assistant Principal who is ready for a ‘step up to a Deputy Head post. You will have experience with pupils with ASD/MLD/SLD/ PMLD and challenging behaviour at KS3 & KS4 levels (minimum)

 The Successful Deputy Head

  • Must be a well qualified Teacher (open to subject) with QTS
  • Already in an Assistant Head/ Assistant Principal / Deputy Head / Deputy Headteacher/ Vice Principal or alternative Senior Leadership Post
  • Ideally SLT experience in an SEN School/ Alternative Provision / PRU or a mainstream Secondary School.
  • Imperative that you can show on your CV that you have worked with SEN pupils in some capacity within an SLT post (ie ASD/MLD/SLD/ PMLD and/ or Challenging Behaviour)
  • You are a Good to Outstanding Practitioner.
  • Minimum of 2 years as an Assistant Head/ Deputy Head
