Are you looking for a new challenge as an SEN Learning Mentor?

Do you want to be a part of an enthusiastic team as an SEN Mentor?

Are you a confident SEN Teaching Mentor with desire to work in SEN?

Future Education are looking for staff to work for a College based in Camberwell Green with access to many facilities including Camberwell leisure centre. Lomond House can accommodate up to 50 students aged 16+.

Students and staff enjoy being part of the local community and students are supported in work opportunities with many local businesses and community groups including Independence Homes, Books beyond Words, People First Lambeth, Kennington Flowerbeds Project, and Brixton Libraries.

This role will suit people who want to get into care of have experience working with vulnerable adults and young people.

All students have their own Health Care Plan, identified as having SEMH and / or Autism, alongside challenging behaviour.

Your Role will be to:

  • Work in a group or one-to-one basis with young people,
  • Working with the college staff to select students for mentoring
  • Conversing the aims of mentoring with pupils
  • Supporting pupils inside and outside of the classroom
  • Agreeing and writing action plans
  • Visiting homes of the students to talk to parents about issues and to offer advice about how to deal with problems
  • Liaising with schools, teachers, social workers and educational psychologists and making referrals where appropriate
  • Arranging and running drop-in sessions and music and sports events for pupils
  • Assisting pupils with the changeover to secondary education
  • Helping pupils to increase their self-confidence and self-esteem by listening to them and creating suitable strategies for the individual
