SEN TA (PRU - SEMH)

Innovative and Creative Pupil Referral Unit (PRU) in Harlow, Essex is recruiting a long-term SEN TA (SEMH).  This full time post is to start in April 2021! 

Learners who attend this Pupil Referral Unit (PRU) have diagnosed with SEMH and challenging behaviour.  As there are a lot of behavioural difficulties, it is essential that the successful SEN TA/ Mentor/ HLTA/ Behaviour Mentor/ Learning Mentor / Youth Worker / Child Support Worker has great experience with SEN learners (ie ADHD/ Autism/CAMHS/ SEMH/ Complex Needs / ADHD/ Challenging Behaviour).  In addition,  the successful SEN TA must have worked in either a PRU/ AP / SEN or Mainstream School (with lots of SEN learners).   

This immediate vacancy would mean working with young people at either primary and/or secondary levels on both a 1:1 basis & within small groups.  To be successful in this post,  you must be resilient, supportive, empathetic, dedicated, proactive and able to build a strong rapport with children. 

• SEN Experience - (ie Autism/ SEMH/ CAMHS / ODD/ ADHD/ Challenging Behaviour)
• Worked in a similar post within either a Provision/ Pupil Referral Unit/ SEN School or a  mainstream school (with lots of SEN learners)
• Experience as either; LSA/ SEN Teaching Assistant/ Mentor/ Behaviour Teaching Assistant/ Learning Mentor /HLTA/ Behaviour Mentor/ Youth Worker
• Worked with children on either a 1:1 basis and in small groups
• Able to de-escalate behaviour calmly & able to build a rapport with children
• In date DBS with the update service
• Commutable distance to Harlow, Essex
