Successful Pupil Referral Unit (PRU) located in the borough of Greenwich is currently recruiting for a part time SEN Teaching Assistant (SEN TA) specialising with challenging behaviour. Immediate long term position.

This is an ofsted rated good Pupil Referral Unit (PRU) and is successful in every aspect. Students have a range of SEN needs such as social, emotional, educational and behavioural needs. SEN TAs who work at there have vast experience of working with different types of SEN pupils such as SEMH / SEBD/ ASD/ MLD/ADHD as well as challenging behaviour. All of their pupils who attend this PRU are either School Action or School Action Plus. They have a strong Senior Leadership Team with exemplary and supportive managers & staff alike.  Staff have been graded a minimum of a “Good” and it is imperative that all new staff are able to mirror this standard.


Currently recruiting for a part time SEN Teaching Assistant /SEN TA/ HLTA/ Learning Mentor/ LSA/Teaching Assistant/ Youth Worker to work with one student a 1:2:1 basis who has been out of education for quite some time.   The pupil needs assistance with basic numeracy and literacy as well as someone who is able to build a strong rapport with a student with challenging behaviour. The successful SEN Teaching Assistant (SEN TA) must have been in a similar post (ie Tutor/ SEN TA/ SEN Teaching Assistant/ HLTA/ Learning Mentor/ Behaviour Mentor/ Teaching Assistant /Youth Worker).  Your SEN experience must be in either SEN or mainstream school (ie SEBD/ SEMH/ ASD/ MLD/ADHD/ challenging behaviour etc).  You are a calm, empathetic, resilient, firm but fair individual.   Additionally you will have a proven track record building a strong rapport with your students.  


  • Experience in a support role in either mainstream or SEN Education
  • You have been either an LSA/  SEN TA/ SEN Teaching Assistant/ HLTA/ Learning Mentor/ Behaviour Mentor/ Teaching Assistant /Youth Worker / Tutor
  • Must have worked with children and/ or young people (secondary or primary students)
  • SEN experience with challenging behaviour (ie SEBD/SEMH/ EBD/ASD/ ADHD etc)
  • Imperative you have minimum of 6 months in either an SEN or mainstream School in a support post.
  • You can build a strong rapport with your pupils.
  • You have 1:1 experience supporting pupils and also within small groups
  • You are resilient, patient, calm under pressure & you don’t take things personally
  • You have an In date Enhanced DBS with the update service
