SEN School located in the borough of Bexley is recruiting for a SEN Teaching Assistant (SEN TA) who specialises in both Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) and Emotional & Behaviour Disorder (EBD). This is ongoing long term post to start immediately.

Exceptional opportunity has arisen at a popular SEN School in the borough of Bexley. They cater for students from Primary to Secondary ages with great facilities. The client would like to appoint an SEN Teaching Assistant (TA) who specialises in both EBD and SEMH. They work with various practitioners to re-integrate pupils back into mainstream education. They offer and provide a broad and inclusive Curriculum. This SEN School focuses on students in a positive way so that they achieve well within their education. The pupils at this school will either have Education, Health and Care Plan (EHC) or a Statement in SEN. Students at this Special Needs School have a number of behavioural difficulties.

Due to the demands of new students at this school and workload, this new post has become available for someone to start immediately! You will essentially be working with students on 1:1 basis and within small groups. This is a long term & full time vacancy for an Special Educational Needs Teaching Assistant (SEN TA). Your background will be as either an already SEN TA or LSA/ Youth Worker or a Support Worker with experience with SEN pupils. You will be able to build a strong rapport with the your students and be resilient and not ‘take things to heart’, as there are instances when the behaviour will be challenging.

To be successful in this role you must pass the following criteria:

  • Either an LSA/ SEN TA/Support Worker/ SEN Teaching Assistant / Youth Worker
  • Experience working with pupil with behavioural difficulties (EBD/SEMH/ MLD/ SEN)
  • Minimum of 6 months Experience in either mainstream or SEN school or in a youth club
  • Able to build a strong rapport with your pupils
  • Calm under pressure and resilient individual
  • Team Teach or Behaviour Intervention training would be beneficial but not essential for this post
  • In date Enhanced DBS with the update service
