All teacher supply agencies should observe statutory legal requirements. Therefore most operate in similar ways. Yet all of them claim to be unique. Usually there is little or no truth whatsoever to that claim. In the case of Future Education, however, we are genuinely distinct for several reasons:

A FAMILY BUSINESS HEADED by a FORMER HEADMASTER and  MAGISTRATE:

Future Education is a family-owned-and-operated business. Our MD and patriarch is Derek Attwell, who was a headteacher for 23 years and a magistrate. He therefore has an absolute responsibility to ensure that the company operates with scrupulous integrity, honesty and transparency so that it is above reproach and to ensure that his position and reputation cannot be compromised. Should any teacher or school ever feel that Future Education has let them down then Derek will personally ensure that the issues are addressed promptly, professionally and without prejudice.

A FAMILY BUSINESS RUN by THREE TEACHERS:

Most supply agencies don’t have an inkling about what goes on in schools. But Future Education is run by three qualified and experienced teachers so we’re on familiar territory. Not only is Derek himself a former teacher. So too are both of his sons, David and Mark (who serve, respectively, as Operations Manager and Recruitment Director). To this day all three still spend some time in classrooms to ensure that they understand the needs of their clients and teachers – and to guarantee that they as individuals, and the agency itself, are not wrong-footed by a dynamic curriculum.

NOT JUST CLASSROOM TEACHERS:

We also provide nursery nurses, teaching assistants and private tutors. They are subject to the same vetting procedures. For administrative ease on this website they should register and log on in the same way as teachers would, and view the information on the dedicated teacher page. Likewise those who wish to utilise the services of nursery nurses and private tutors will find that they are profiled in the same way as their classroom counterparts.

THINKING BEYOND the NEXT SCHOOL DAY:

We understand absolutely that most headteachers and their staff are necessarily focused on the ‘here and now’ because they need to survive the rigours of the current or impending school day. But Future Education tries to facilitate more than that.  We work with client schools, where possible, to anticipate staffing needs and plan ahead. Yet we realise that teachers, too, should be looking to their futures. To that end we welcome all dedicated educators including Overseas Qualified Teachers (OQTs) who are sometimes referred to as Overseas Trained Teachers (OTTs), Newly Qualified Teachers (NQTs) and returning teachers. We help them to settle down in South London if they’re new to the area, we find them good schools and longer-placements or permanent posts where possible so they’ll stay in the profession, we provide qualified and experienced mentors, we actively encourage continuous professional development, and we help to find superb and affordable accommodation for new arrivals.
