If so, we have an exciting opportunity for you to join the team at an SEN College based in Sutton as a Learning Support Assistant.


SEN Learning Support Assistant - Role Overview: As a Learning Support Assistant, you will play a vital role in providing personalised support to adults with Special Educational Needs attending College. Your primary responsibility will be to assist lecturing staff in delivering educational activities and facilitating the learning and well-being of students. You will work collaboratively with lecturers, therapists, and other professionals to create a positive and inclusive learning environment.

Position: SEN Learning Support Assistant
Days: Monday to Friday
Hours: 8:45am to 4:30pm
Salary: £83 to £88 per day PAYE

SEN Learning Support Assistant - Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide support to students with various needs, including those with challenging behaviours.
  • Assist in implementing therapy, health, and well-being programs as directed by the nurse, therapist, and lecturer.
  • Support students' attendance and engagement in learning activities.
  • Collaborate with lecturers in creating and adapting learning resources.
  • Encourage and facilitate students' self-confidence, independence, and skill development.
  • Assist students in accessing community-based learning programs and basic skills training.
  • Participate in physical support tasks, including using manual handling equipment and assisting with personal care.
  • Promote equality, diversity, and inclusion in all aspects of work.
  • Contribute to planning, recording, and evaluating individual learning programs.
  • Utilize technology and educational aids to support students' learning.
  • Adhere to policies related to safeguarding, health and safety, and equality and diversity.

SEN Learning Support Assistant - Requirements:

  • Passion for working with individuals with Special Educational Needs and supporting their growth.
  • Ability to handle challenging behaviours and adapt to varying needs.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Willingness to participate in training, including physical interventions and personal care assistance.
  • Flexibility to work across different College centres.
  • Commitment to promoting a positive and inclusive atmosphere.
  • Previous experience in a similar role or relevant qualifications (desirable).
