Thriving Pupil Referral Unit (PRU) in Bexley, is recruiting for a permanent MPS or UPS English Teacher/ Teacher of English/ SEN Teacher. Full time position to start in January 2022.

Supportive, Creative & Innovative Pupil Referral Unit (PRU) that caters to pupils with SEMH/ Complex Needs & Challenging Behaviour. Successful & strong SLT, Behaviour support staff & SEN Teachers. All SEN Teachers at this PRU have been graded a minimum of a "Good" in their lesson observations. It is imperative that all new SEN Teachers have previously been observed as either "Good" or "Outstanding". Pupils range 7 - 18 years old. Pupils respond positively to fun, engaging, empathetic and dedicated staff.

New opportunity has arisen for either an NQT or Experienced MPS or UPS English Teacher / Teacher of English / SEN Teacher to commence work in January 2022! This would suit a well-qualified Teacher of English/ English Teacher appointment (ie PGCE/ ITT/Cert Ed/ Teach First/ SCITT/ GTP/ QTS). You MUST have taught KS3 to GCSE English (as a minimum). Must have worked with children with behavioural difficulties (ie SEMH/ Challenging Behaviour/ CAMHS/ ADHD/ ASD) in either an Alternative Provision / PRU/ SEN School or Mainstream School. Class sizes are very small (between 5 - 7) , so will give you to teach with clarity, engage your SEN pupils and ensure they get the best inclusive education.

  • SEN or Mainstream Teaching certificate (ie PGCE/ GTP/ Teach First/ SCITT/ QTS / etc).
  • Experience as an English Teacher / Teacher of English/ SEN Teacher
  • NQTs and Experienced MPS or UPS teachers welcome to apply!
  • KS3 to GCSE English Teaching (additionally functional skills English would be beneficial but not essential)
  • You have some SEN teaching experience ( ie SEMH/ CAMHS/ Complex Needs/ ASC/ASD/ ADHD/ CAMHS/ ODD/ADD/Challenging/ Provision / SEN School or Secondary Mainstream School (with behaviour difficulties)
  • Able to build a strong rapport with your pupils & can successfully de-escalate behaviour.
