PRU in the borough of Tower Hamlets is recruiting a either a Functional Skills Tutor or SEN Teacher who can offer Functional Skills. This is a 5 day a week fixed term contract and is to start straight away!
This is an Innovative & Creative Pupil Referral Unit with state-of-the -art facilities and supportive, staff. Students who attend this PRU are at KS3 & KS4 levels, some of which have been diagnosed with either Learning and/or Behaviour Difficulties. Teaching staff must have been observed a minimum of "Good" in lesson observations. They recruit for either Tutors, SEN Teachers or Mainstream Qualified Teachers. Class sizes in this PRU are small (typically 5-7). This will effectively gives teaching and support staff the opportunity to engage the children on both a 1:1 basis and within small group sessions.
New opportunity for either a Functional Skills Tutor or SEN Teacher who has taught Functional Skills to children. Due to the needs of some of the young people, you must be able to build a strong rapport with children on both a 1:1 basis and in small groups. Some children will be studying GCSE English and Maths so if you can also teach either at this level, this would be beneficial but not essential. You will have your Key child(ren) who you will be working closely with in a 90 minute lesson, so you will be able to engage young people well and able to make learning fun and creative in your approach. You are great at de-escalating behaviour and have great SEN experience; ie Behaviour Difficulties/ SEMH/ CAMHS/ ASD/ASC/ADHD/ ADD/ ODD /Complex Needs etc). You will be able to plan, deliver and mark their work effectively. In addition, you will have support staff in your lessons to assist you. It is imperative that you have worked as either a Functional Skills Tutor or SEN Teacher in either an Alternative Provision/ PRU (Pupil Referral Unit)/ SEN School/ Tuition Centre or Mainstream School.
