SEN School (SEMH) located in the borough of Tower Hamlets would like to recruit an interim Headteacher. This position is to commence in January 2022.

This SEMH School which provides all through inclusive education to their children and young people. Children for the most part been diagnosed with mild SEMH and have Education Health Care Plans (EHCPs). There is currently 90 children who attend, with small class sizes of between 5-7 in each class. Exemplary CEO, Board Members and Deputy Head.

They require an interim Head with strong leadership capabilities for this SEN School. They are recruiting a Head who can lead with clear direction and has great experience within SEN education. It would be beneficial if the newly appointed Headteacher has experience working with a provision or school that has been in "Special Measures" and brought it through to a "Good". The new interim Head & practitioner must have experience working in either an Alternative Provision / Pupil Referral Unit (PRU) / SEN School (SEMH) OR Mainstream School (with a high intake of behaviour and/or SEN). Essentially this role would only suit an already Headteacher / Principal OR a very experienced Deputy Headteacher OR Vice Principal ready to step up to a Headship, with an excellent track record of turning an SEN School around. It is imperative for this role that you started your career as a well-qualified teacher (ie PGCE/ITT /Cert Ed/ GTP /SCITT/ QTS). Your SEN experience will be varied, (ie CAMHS/ ASD/ASC/ ODD/ADD/ADHD/ SEMH / Anxiety/ EHCPs etc). You will have exceptional leadership and managerial capabilities and be able to successfully lead this school and your staff in a successful way. You will be the type of Head who "thinks outside of the box" with new and creative ideas.

The successful Headteacher

  • Started your career as a well-qualified Teacher (PGCE/Cert Ed/ GTP / Teach First/ SCITT/ QTS)
  • ideally you a NPQSL qualification
  • Your Headship experience MUST be in either an Alternative Provision/ Pupil Referral Unit (PRU)/ SEN School (SEMH) OR Mainstream school (With SEN/Behavioural)
  • You are an Outstanding SLT Practitioner via Ofsted
  • Your recent role; Headteacher / Principal OR a very experienced Deputy Headteacher OR Vice Principal
  • Excellent experience and understanding of SEN children who have EHCPs
  • Sound and first-rate knowledge of the UK Curriculum in T&L
  • Imperative that you reside in easy commutable distance to Tower Hamlets
  • Available to start in January 2022 with an Enhanced DBS or able to pay for one immediately
