SENCO with DSL (New Provision)

New Provision in the borough of Greenwich is recruiting a SENCO (with experience as a - DSL). The job would be split into two part time roles (SENCO with DSL)and eventually the SENCO role will be full time. This exciting contract role must start in January 2022.

Children who attend this new provision have either; CAMHS, SEMH, Autism, ADHD, Behaviour Difficulties at secondary age level. Welcoming and Supportive SEN Teachers, SEN TAs with a robust SLT. All new staff must have a passion for working in an SEN educational environment, are empathetic, resilient and able to build a strong rapport with young people.

Unique and exciting opportunity for a new provision that is looking for a well-qualified and experienced part time SENCO who can also work as a DSL (Designated Safeguarding Lead) until this role eventually becomes full time (5 days a week). It is preferred that you have a SENCO qualification, however IF you do not have the SENCO qualification, you must have considerable experience working as a SENCO or Inclusion Manager/ SEN Coordinator. You must have worked in either a Pupil Referral Unit (PRU)/ Alternative Provision / SEN School / or mainstream school. Great opportunity to put your "stamp" in the provision and to make a difference. This is a smaller provision with a steady flow of child referrals from neighbouring schools that need to assessed for EHCPs.

  • Preferably a well-qualified SENCO with a qualification
  • Experienced SENCO who has also worked as a DSL (to make this a full time post)
  • Your most recent job title; SENCO / SENDCO/ AHT with SEN/ Senior Leadership Team (SLT)/ SEN Coordinator/ Inclusion Manager
  • You have experience working as a SENCO/ DSL post leading in either a; Alternative Provision/ PRU/ SEN School / Mainstream School
  • Experience monitoring the impact of teaching and learning activities and the progress made by children with SEN
  • Accessing children for EHCPs
  • Providing a strategic vision for the provision and able to raise standards of SEN student inclusion, attainment & achievement by the monitoring & support of student progress.
  • In date Enhanced DBS with the update service OR willing to pay for one ASAP
