Currently recruiting for a Pupil Referral Unit (PRU) located on the Greenwich borders. This is a full time & permanent September 2019 for a Behaviour Mentor.

 

Innovative and creative PRU that predominantly caters to SEMH pupils with challenging behaviour. Essentially they work hard at this PRU to ensure their students have a passion for education & life for the future.   They offer education to both primary and secondary levels.

 

In September 2019 , there is a new and exciting opportunity for a permanent Behaviour Mentor / Senior Behaviour Teaching Assistant / Behaviour HLTA / Teaching Assistant who essentially has experience with pupils with SEMH.  This role is looking for a Behaviour Mentor / Senior Behaviour Teaching Assistant / Behaviour HLTA / Teaching Assistant who has experience working with KS3 & KS4 students.   Due to the students having SEMH (and additional challenging behaviour), this role would suit someone who is able to build a strong rapport with young people and children, resilient, doesn’t take things personally, calm and able to deescalate a situation. You would be working with pupils on a 1:1 basis and at times within small groups.

 

There are occasions you wold be needing to teach basic lessons. There will also be occasions where you would need to patrol the PRU by yourself and at times if behaviour becomes out of hand, confident enough to restrain pupils.   It would be beneficial if you have had either Team Teach/ PRICE or some form of restraint traning, however if you have a strong CV with experience as either a Behaviour Mentor / Senior Behaviour Teaching Assistant / Behaviour HLTA / Teaching Assistant etc, training will be provided!

 

 

  • Must be able to build a strong rapport with challenging behaviour
  • Experience with either SEMH/ EBD/ ADHD etc
  • Required to participate in restraining pupils, so it is imperative that you are confident with this
  • Beneficial if you are Team Teach or PRICE trained ( however training would be provided if not)
  • Experience is as either a Behaviour Mentor / Senior Behaviour Teaching Assistant / Behaviour HLTA / Teaching Assistant/ HLTA
  • Worked with pupils on a 1:1 basis and within small groups and would  potentially need to teach small groups
  • Confident to be left alone to deal with a disruptive pupil & retrain if necessary
  • Focused on safeguarding pupils
  • You are resilient, consistent & don’t take things to heart
  • Experience with KS3 & KS4 pupils
