SEN Early Years Teacher to start in September (Croydon)

A Special School based in the heart of Croydon are looking for an SEN Teacher to join their lovely setting permanently for September.

The School is a maintained primary special school for children aged 4 - 11 who have severe learning difficulties. This School is focused on giving children the best education experience to enhance self-esteem leaving them with tools to fully reach their potential.

Salary - 26k - 43k


  • Existing experience supporting children with Special Educational Needs/ Disabilities
  • Ability to manage possible challenging behaviour, promote focus and encourage positive social interaction
  • Must have a QTS
  • Must have good interpersonal skills
  • Existing SEND experience
  • Experience in Early Years
  • Must have in date DBS on update service
  • Available to work full time

As a SEN Teacher you will work with children who need extra support, or are involved in an advanced programme of learning, in order to reach their full potential.

You may work with children who have Physical Disabilities, Sensory Impairments (i.e. hearing or visual), Speech and Language Difficulties, Learning difficulties, conditions such as Autism, Social, Emotional and Mental Health Needs, or have a combination of these difficulties.

Responsibilities may include:

  • Plan lessons and resources
  • Assess and mark work
  • Liaise with external professionals e.g. Social workers, Educational Psychologist, Speech & Language Therapist & Physiotherapists
  • Working closely with parents and guardians
  • Manage behaviour
  • Tailor lessons and teaching methods to suit the needs of pupils
  • Attend statutory annual reviews or other related meetings, regarding students with an SEN, which may involve reviewing
  • Organise learning outside the classroom in activities such as community visits, school outings or sporting events
  • Attend in house training
