Alternative Provision located in the borough of Greenwich is currently recruiting for a SEN TA (Special Education Needs Teaching Assistant) who specialise with challenging behaviour (ie SEMH/ ASD/ ADHD etc).  This is a long term post to start in September 2019.

 

Rated Good via ofsted, this  Alternative Provision is very well run with a dedicated and successful Head.  They work hard with their pupils who require specialist assistance and for their support staff to be consistent, dedicated, resilient and able to build a strong rapport.  Additionally exceptional staff who work hard  to re-integrate pupils back into mainstream education.  Supportive provision with exceptional staff who make a difference to young people. Support Staff at this Alternative Provision are Good to Outstanding this is the same for new staff.

 

Due to increased student role & work load, this new post has been made available.   Essentially as a  SEN TA (Special Education Needs Teaching Assistant ) you will be working with pupils in small groups & on a 1:1 basis.  The successful SEN TA  will either have been in a similar post or a Learning Mentor, Behaviour Mentor/ LSA/ HLTA / Teaching Assistant /Youth Worker  (ie EBD, SEMH, ASD, ADHD etc). 

 

As an SEN TA/ Behaviour Mentor/ LSA/ HLTA / Teaching Assistant /Youth Worker you will be resilient, empathetic, firm but fair, dedicated and can build a strong rapport with the your pupils and get them on task.   Essentially you will be a resilient individual who can deal with challenging behaviour and doesn’t take things to heart.   Would be beneficial if you have had de-escalation training OR behaviour training but not essential.

 

  • You are either a Youth Worker or  SEN TA  or HLTA or Teaching Assistant or :earning Mentor or Behaviour Mentor etc
  • Must have worked with children or young people (primary or secondary age)
  • Must have worked with challenging behaviour (ie SEMH, EBD, ASD, ADHD etc)
  • Minimum 6 months in SEN Schools  / mainstream in a support role.
  • Can successfully build a strong rapport with  young people  & children
  • Have worked with young people in small groups and/ or on a 1:1 basis
  • You are resilient, calm under pressure & patient
  • Dedicated to safeguarding pupils
  • In date Enhanced DBS with the update service
