Future Education are currently looking for SEN Teaching Assistant to work in an SEN school based in Upper Norwood.

The School is specialised for young people aged 11 – 19 with moderate to severe learning difficulties, many of the students also have a diagnosis of Autism.

You will benefit from a brand new built school which includes a dedicated Food Technology Preparation Kitchen, an ICT suite, Immersive Room, Gym, Lego Therapy Room, Therapy Centre, Outdoor Learning area and a Forest School which gives pupils the opportunity to flourish and learn new skills in a variety of learning environments outside of the classroom.

The ideal Person for this position will have:

  • Ideally worked with children in a safe guarded setting
  • Flexibility – Willing to work across different age groups and classes
  • The ability to create and maintain relationships
  • Strong communication skills
  • Ability to remain calm
  • Reliable
  • A good sense of humour
  • Good understanding of Special education needs and Autism
  • Experience managing challenging behaviour
  • Happy to do personal care
  • Clear DBS on update service

 

Your Role will be to:

  • Supporting pupils on either a 1:1 or small group basis
  • Encouraging positive social interaction with peers
  • Offering extra support where necessary
  • Ensuring pupils have a safe learning environment
  • Implementing a variety of strategies to cater for different learning abilities
  • Being creative Supporting activities
  • Supporting the teacher/s
  • Personal Care
